graduating from the compost heap

so when i said i was going to blog more, what i really meant was please please please don't lose faith in me, heh heh. i keep having these great ideas about what i've heard called (and like calling) "life hacks." not huge lifehacks, like implanting magnets into your fingers (6th sense!) but things like showering with your clothes on. small things you can do to make life easier. some might protest the term "life hacks" but fuck it. it rolls off the tongue nicely :)

a lot of it is because i've become increasingly more "green" as of late. I bike to school, sold my 11mpg '78 camaro (raimi!!!), i try not to pollute, i compost dog poo, i'm gonna start composting yard waste...that kinda thing. you know a compost heap can reach over 160 degrees F? after that all the bacteria and fungi die but if you can hold it at 3 days at 130 (a great place for bacteria and fugi), e.coli, staph and salmonela threats (the three most common in dog poo) are toast. intersting stuff...for some reason it reminds me of a smelly tank of sea monkeys.

another new one i like that i came across researching piles of dog poo (general sanitation) is boiling your sponges when they start smelling. not the sponges that are fallin' apart...but the ones that have unfortunately been left in a puddle for even a day or so that starts growin' something. i hate that smell. so just fuckin' boil it (don't burn yourself) and i's good as new. another suggestion is just putting it in the dishwasher but i think that incurs unnecessary wear on the sponge.

emergency (but temporary..unless you're lazy me) surfboard repair? electrical tape. excellent adhesion and great waterproofing if you can maintain the seal (don't pick at it!).

oh, and how cool am i. my new cell phone ring is "skull & crossbones" from the soundtrack of 'the pirates of the carribean'. the general theme song for whenver jack's doing something cool. i feel like a badass pirate whenever someone calls me (although nobody has yet....boo). so excited!

BUT. i will blog more.

stay tuned, me hearties
